「EVの需要が新記録を達成し、3月の英国販売は18％増加」

3月の自動車新車販売台数は、前年同月比18%増の287,825台と、年初から8ヶ月連続で増加し、自動車業界団体のSMMT（Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders）は、フル電気自動車（EV）の販売が過去最高を記録したことも明らかにした。SMMTによると、サプライチェーンの課題が改善され、2023年第1四半期は2019年以来最も強力な3ヶ月間となったという。

フルEVの販売台数は19%増の46,626台となり、市場シェア16.2%を占め、一方で、ガソリン車が最も人気の燃料タイプとなり、17%増の市場シェア41.4%を獲得した。ディーゼル車の販売台数は20%減少し、市場シェアは3.8%となった。

SMMTのCEOであるMike Hawes氏は、「ゼロエミッション車の最高月間販売台数は、消費者の選択肢の増加と販売台数の改善を反映していますが、EV市場の野心と規制を実現するためには、インフラ投資が追いつく必要があります」と述べている。また、EVのテスラ・モデルYが先月の英国で最も売れた車種であり、2位は日産ジューク、3位は日産カシュカイであった。

自動車業界団体は、ゼロエミッション車規制が9か月以内に施行されることを考慮に入れ、公共充電インフラストラクチャーへの投資増加がゼロエミッション車の成功に欠かせないとしている。
